Lagos Green Line Rail Project: Enhancing Urban Mobility and Connectivity

The Lagos Green Line Rail Project is a 68-kilometer rail transit system designed to connect Marina to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, passing through key districts such as Victoria Island, Lekki, Ajah, and Sangotedo. The project is part of Lagos State’s long-term vision to create a modern and efficient urban transport network to ease congestion, boost economic growth, and improve public transit.

Federal Government Contribution: In the 2025, the Federal Government allocated ₦146.14 billion as counterpart funding for the project. This allocation is part of the Ministry of Transport’s total budget of ₦256.73 billion. The funds are managed by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), which oversees the project’s financial aspects on behalf of the Ministry of Transport

The Green Line is expected to integrate with the existing Blue Line at Marina, forming a multi-modal transport system that links bus terminals, ferry services, and other rail lines across the city.
