Asia-Pacific construction contractor Leighton Asia has acquired Maverick United Consulting Engineers.
The Malaysia-based engineering consultancy specialises in digital infrastructure, including data centres, and high-rise buildings.
Leighton Asia, which is a subsidiary of Australia-based CIMIC Group, said the combination of the two companies would grow Leighton Asia’s services in the rapidly expanding data centre market. Leighton Asia already has a portfolio of data centres across Asia in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Macau, the Philippines, Singapore and India.
It added that the deal also provides the potential for further high technology projects such as semiconductor and clean room production facilities.
CIMIC group executive chairman Juan Santamaria said, “Maverick has significant exposure to multinational technology clients, and leading engineering capabilities. The combination of Maverick and Leighton Asia will allow us to provide a wider range of services and solutions that our clients are looking for in Asia, at a time when the region is expected to be the fastest growing data centre market.”
Leighton Asia managing director Brad Davey added, “With Maverick joining our team, Leighton Asia’s early contractor involvement capabilities will be enhanced, providing a strong advantage for our clients to work with Leighton Asia while design development is in the early stages. Maverick’s people will find increased opportunity provided by Leighton Asia to grow Maverick.”
